The Battle of

The Second World War started on 1 September 1939 when Germany captured Poland, and in consequence Britain and France announced war. Poland was seized in just 28 days, in spite of courageous defense of their motherland by the Polish armed formations. Then, the British and French Governments tried some political solutions to prevent the war. The Allied Expeditionary Force and Advanced Air Striking Force went into position and waited. On 9 April 1940, the peace was crashed as the German forces attacked Denmark and Norway. A British Force was sent to aid the Norwegians, but the Allied Forces were numerous and fast
